Executive Board 2015 - 2016

Executive Board

Joy

Joy

Executive Director Joy was born and raised in Nigeria before moving to the United States. She is double majoring in Global Health and Biological Sciences and minoring in Spanish. She is involved in various organizations at USC such as USC Helenes, Troy Camp, Trojan Health Volunteers and more. The biggest advice that she would give an incoming student is to remember that while college can be difficult, there is more to life than late night studying at Leavey Library and worrying about the curve.

Nduku

Nduku

Associate Director As an international student, transitioning into USC was especially difficult. Nduku believes that USC needs a space for African students and students of African descent to interact and share experiences and build a sense of community. Bduku is also involved in USC Alpha Phi Omega, an editor at USC SCRIBE magazine, a Trojan health Volunteer, and USC Our Savior Parish Student Leader. Her favorite USC memory involved 2am impromptu dance/karaoke sessions with her roommates.

Tomi

Tomi

Director of Programming Tomi is a Senior majoring in Human Biology with a Pre-Med emphasis. He identifies strongly with his Nigerian culture and believes as apart of the African diaspora, one should make every effort to stay connected with their roots. He is heavily involved in the black community in USC and has previous leadership positions in orgs such as BSA Community Outreach Council (COC). He is currently the president of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Alpha Delta Chapter.

Grace

Grace

Director of Membership Grace is from Rosemead, CA. She is majoring in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. Her father is from Accra, Ghana and her mother is from Guadalajara, Mexico. She co-founded the first Pre-Physical Therapy Club on campus and is the co-president for the club as well. Additionally she joined the Athletic Medicine program where she worked as an assistant athletic trainer for the women's volleyball and basketball team.

Shiku

Shiku

Director of Media & Web Design Shiku is a Senior in the 5 year Architecture program. She is originally from Kenya, but has lived in a few countries around the world. She is also a member of the ADX Christian sorority on campus, and serves as the Director of Graphic Design. She hopes PASA will create a space for open dialogue about Africa - the myths and the facts. She hopes students will learn, and be inspired. If she could give any advice to other students it would be to be present.

Bianca Vekima

Bianca Vekima

Co-Director of Programming Bianca is currently a junior majoring in Global Health with a minor in Natural Sciences. She is from Northville, Michigan but her family is originally from Cameroon. She is obsessed with her culture and thinks it is very important for there to be an African presence on campus. She has been involved with other organization such as Peer Health Exchange, Keck Student Ambassadors and Residential Student Government.

Greg Amalu

Greg Amalu

Director of Fundraising Greg is a senior at USC majoring in Human Biology with a minor in Health Care Sciences. He is of Nigerian descent (more specifically Igbo) and is the first in his family born in the US. His hometown is Cerritos CA. He joined PASA because he saw a group with a glaring lack of representation on campus. He does not feel as though there is adequate space for people who relate to the African diaspora to express their views and cultures with like-minded individuals.
